What is NEET UG?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) 2026, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is the sole entrance exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, and BHMS courses in medical and dental colleges across India. With over 20 lakh aspirants competing for approximately 1 lakh MBBS seats, NEET UG is one of the toughest entrance exams in the country.

Eligibility Criteria

10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as core subjects. Minimum 50% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST). Age: Minimum 17 years as of December 31 of admission year.

  • Physics (Class 11 & 12): Laws of Motion, Work-Energy-Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, Oscillations, Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetism, Optics, Modern Physics, Electronic Devices.
  • Chemistry: Physical (Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Electrochemistry), Organic (IUPAC, Reactions, Biomolecules), Inorganic (Periodic Table, p-block, d-block, Coordination Compounds).
  • Biology: Cell Biology, Genetics & Evolution, Ecology, Human Physiology, Plant Physiology, Reproduction, Biotechnology.

Expected Cut-offs 2026

General/UR: ~720–138 (Qualifying). Government Medical College cutoffs: 600+ for top colleges. AIIMS/JIPMER use NEET scores. State quotas have separate cutoffs.

Preparation Tips

  1. NCERT is the Bible for NEET — read every line in Biology, especially diagrams.
  2. For Chemistry, balance NCERT with standard reference for Organic reactions.
  3. Physics needs conceptual understanding + formula application practice.
  4. Solve at least 150 MCQs daily across all three subjects.
  5. Attempt 2 full mock tests every week; analyse incorrect answers topic-wise.
